Player Notes:

James Fiorani:

A center back, Fiorani has led a strong Rutgers-Camden defense which has won four straight games, all by shutouts, and has notched six shutouts and a 0.65 goals-against average on the season. He is one of the Scarlet Raptors' four captains

Thomas Owens:

Owens led top-ranked Trinity to two SCAC wins on the road last weekend, defeating both Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern. Against Millsaps on Friday, Owens led a defense that gave up just two total shots – neither of which was on goal. On Sunday, Owens led a back line that allowed just two shots on goal against Birmingham-Southern – one of which came on a penalty kick. That PK was the only goal allowed this past weekend as Owens directed the team to 180 minutes without allowing a goal during regular play. For the season, Owens leads the defense that ranks number one in the SCAC in goals allowed, yielding just four goals in eight games played.

JD Binger:

Junior centerback JD Binger has continued his strong play in the back for Messiah as he helped lead the Falcons to their sixth straight shutout. In addition to the two shutouts this past week, Binger scored the game winner against DeSales University Wednesday evening. The 2006 D3Kicks.com All-America defender has 2 goals this season and has been a defensive force both in the air and on the ground.

Aaron Acello:

Acello scored all three goals in the 3-2 OT win over Plattsburgh on Saturday including the game-winner in overtime. The day earlier, the junior scored two more goals in the 5-1 win over Potsdam. The Golden Eagles are 3-0 in Conference Play and 5-1 overall. Acello leads the team with eight goals and 17 points on the season.

Scott Bukoski:

Bukoski led the Blue Jays to a 2-0-0 week with four goals and an assist for nine points. He scored the game-winning goal in wins against Philadelphia Biblical and Haverford. In the win over the Crimson Eagles, Bukoski scored just 98 seconds in for the eventual game-winner. He added a second goal later in the first half. In the win over the Fords, he scored two goals and an assist. His game-winner came in the 17th minute, just four minutes after the Fords had tied the game at 1-1. Bukoski leads Hopkins with 10 goals, 23 points and four gamewinning goals.

Casey Sowells:

East Texas Baptist senior forward Casey Sowells (Jacksonville, TX / JHS) paced a pair of conference wins, scoring four goals – two game-winners – and adding an assist to move the Tigers’ winning streak to three games. Sowells had a hat trick in a 4-3 win over McMurry and did the rest of his damage in a 4-1 win over defending ASC champion Hardin-Simmons.

Piotr Sliwa:

Games Played=2; Minutes Played=180; Goals Against=0; Saves=12; Shutouts=2. Dominican's Piotr Sliwa picked up a pair of shutouts including a 1-0 shutout victory over #12 North Park at North Park. In that game the Stars were outshot 17-5 and Sliwa logged five saves. Then in a 5-0 win over Lakeland, Sliwa recorded seven saves to pick up his fourth shutout of the season.

Jeritt Thayer:

Senior midfielder Jeritt Thayer tallied two goals and an assist as the Violets went 2-0 to extend their undefeated streak to six matches. In a 2-0 win over U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Sept. 19, Thayer set up NYU's first goal and tacked on an insurance score. Two days later, he produced the game-winning goal, his seventh of the season, in a 4-0 victory over intra-city rival Baruch College.

Nick Skoczen:

Ohio Wesleyan senior midfielder Nick Skoczen (Chagrin Falls, OH/Kenston) scored twice and added two assists as the Battling Bishops rolled to a 3-0 week. He helped OWU kick off its NCAC title defense when he put away the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Wabash with less than seven minutes left in regulation. He then collected a goal and two assists in a 5-0 defeat of Otterbein.

Gary Boughton:

Gary Boughton- In a 2-0 week for the Mavericks, Boughton recorded the assist on the game winning goal vs. Daemen and then scored the game winning goal vs. LaRoche. He finished the week with 1 goal and 2 assists for 4 points. Boughton a 1st Team All-Region selection by D3KICKS has lead them to a great start at 7-1-1.

Alex Clark:

Played virtually every minute of both matches last week for the Seahawks. On 09/19 vs. Anna Maria, recorded one goal and one assist including the game winning goal at 95:29 in a 4-3 overtime victory when he ripped a clinical side-volley from 20 yards out that beat the Amcats' keeper into the far right corner of the net. On 09/21 at Nichols, he had a hand in both Salve goals as he assisted on the eventual game-winner in the tough 2-0 road victory. He then iced the win with a splendid strike from 16 yards in the 80th minute.

Courtney Sauer:

Courtney Sauer led Salem's defense to two shutouts against Trinity and Gallaudet in D.C. this past weekend. The 8-0-1 Spirits beat Trinity of D.C. 4-0 on 9/22, and Gallaudet 9-0 on 9/23. Sauer, a first-year central defender from Carthage, N.C., had the assist on the game winning goal versus Trinity. She also scored off a corner kick in that match. Sauer added her third goal of the season against Gallaudet. She has anchored Salem's defense to only allowing 7 goals in their first 9 games.

Robyn Brooks:

Brooks and the Tiger defense posted a record of 2-1 over the past week, with the only loss coming at defending national champs Wheaton (IL) College. On Friday, Brooks scored two goals against Millsaps, the first two of her career and also yielded just five total shots, and just one shot on goal. Her second half goals sealed the win in the team's SCAC opener. On Sunday, she led a defense that gave up just four shots on goal against Birmingham-Southern, and allowed only one shot combined in the two overtime periods, giving the offense a chance to win the contest. Brooks and Trinity's defense held Wheaton to its lowest single game scoring output of the season at the time.

Kari Scheelk:

Scheelk has played a major role in the Lady Pioneers' 6-2 start, which included a shutout victory and 1-0 loss last week. Carroll opened the week by improving to 3-0 in MWC play with a 3-0 win at home against Beloit in which the Bucs were limited to one shot on goal. The Lady Pioneers then fell to UW-Stevens Point 1-0 on a late goal, helping the team maintain a 1.00 goals against average. In addition, Scheelk netted her second goal of the season against Beloit.

Megan Gring:

Gring scored four goals in three games in helping the Lady Lions to a 2-1 week. Tuesday night she scored Albright's only goal in a 2-1 loss to #23 Swarthmore. On Thursday, Gring scored two goals and assisted on another in a 7-0 rout of Penn State Berks. Saturday at King's her goal with 2:47 left in regulation tied the score at two and sent the game to overtime, where Albright would eventual score to win 3-2. Gring was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week.

Emily Davies:

Junior forward Emily Davies scored her first three goals of the season last week. She scored two goals and added an assist in Ohio Northern 6-0 victory over Anderson (Ind.). She then evened the game with a goal midway through the first half of a 1-1 tie with Mt. St. Joseph. She is now second on the team with three goals and two assists.

Grace King:

Grace King (Jr., Northampton, Mass.) helped lead Macalester to wins last week over St. Scholastica, St. Olaf and Luther as the Scots improve to 6-1 on the season. With just :32 seconds left in the second and final overtime period, King netted the game's only goal as Mac escaped with a 1-0 win over St. Scholastica. King extended her goal-scoring streak to six games by scoring twice and assisting on another goal in a 3-1 Macalester MIAC victory over St. Olaf. King also had an assist in Mac's 5-2 triumph over Luther. Though the season's first seven games she has nine goals and four assists.

Jenny Jarvis:

Jarvis currently has a 409:03 minute scoreless streak for Aurora. In her two games last week, both shutout victories (4-0 over Wi Lutheran and 3-0 over Kalamazoo), Jarvis was excellent in goal with four saves.

Caitlin Tero:

Caitlin had a huge week 4 with 5 goals and 1 assist in three games. She had the game winning assist in the 105th mintue of the game to beat Ashford 2-1. She scored the only goal for the Lady Spartans in the 1-1 tie against Central College. Then against UW-stout down 2-0 with 8 minutes left on the clock she scored all 3 goals for the win in regulation, with goals at the 82:55, 84:30, 87:13 marks. She now leads the IIAC in goals and points.

Jenna Godwin:

Sophomore midfielder Jenna Godwin recorded three goals, one in each match this week. She also recorded the game-winning header in overtime at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday. Godwin was selected NJAC Offensive Player of the Week this week.

Samantha Rennie:

The senior midfielder helped the University of Southern Maine to a 2-0-0 week, scoring three goals and dishing out one assist for seven points. In the Huskies' 2-0 victory over the University of Maine-Farmington, Rennie set up what proved to be the game-winning goal in the fifth minute. She also helped anchor a defense that allowed UMaine Farmington to just four shots in the game. On Sept. 22, Rennie paced the Southern Maine offense with her first career hat trick in a 4-1 Little East Conference victory over UMass Boston.

A.J. Andreola:

A.J. Andreola notched a hat trick in the Pirates first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest against Millsaps College. Andreola alone staked the Pirates to a 3-0 lead in what turned into a 4-0 SU victory. The sophomore has now scored five goals in the last three games. The Pirates went 1-1 this week.
