Matt Wolin and Elliott Spruell met their freshman year at Lawrence University, when they were designated as roomates by a random lottery drawing. Wolin and Spruell both happened to play soccer, and thought that it deserved more publicity than it was receiving in the United States. After co-captaining the 2005 Vikings to the conference tournament championship, Spruell and Wolin knew that their involvement in Division 3 college soccer was far from over.

During their Senior year, Spruell and Wolin watched very attentively as the Lawrence University Basketball team recorded a 25-1 season. Little did they know, the LU basketball team's success would have a strong impact on how they would spend their future years. Spruell and Wolin were amazed at how much coverage the basketball team was getting from D3hoops.com, a website dedicated to the publicity of Division III college basketball.

"I used to go on D3Hoops.com several times a day," says Wolin. "I remember refreshing the top 25 page waiting to see if we would hit #1. We finally did, and that was when I realized, man we need something like this for Division III soccer," he added.

Wolin began developing the website as an Independent Study for his Computer Science major during his final trimester at Lawrence. With Spruell's help, the two of them would soon put together the greatest single source of Division III soccer information on the planet.

"We pretty much just stopped everything that we were doing, and everything that we had going on, and just worked on the site." Explains Spruell. "Yeah we have advertisements up, and make some money, but if you count all of those hours up, we would have to be making millions in order for it to work out to minimum wage." He laughed.

Since its inception in March of 2006, the home page has received 1,528,794 hits... but who's counting?
