Joe Houchins:
Houchins led a Tiger defense that recorded two shutouts last weekend, blanking both Colorado College and Austin College in SCAC play.Houchins and Trinity defense held its two opponents to just eight total shots in the two games, including a stingy total of two shots to Colorado College on Friday night. Colorado College came into the game averaging over 21 shots/game (second in the SCAC). Houchins also scored a goal as a defender on Sunday, opening the second half scoring with an unassisted goal in the 57th minute. It was the first goal of the season for the senior back.
J.J. Guttman:
Guttman played a major role in helping Carroll shutout Lawrence during Saturday’s 2-0 victory that helped the Pioneers improve 4-1-0 in MWC action this season. The senior defender helped limit the Vikings to six shots overall, including three on goal. Carroll has earned three shutouts this season and has limited six opponents to one goal.
Lee Wilson:
Has played every minute of every game at centerback. As captain he as been integral to Fredonia winning 8 of 10 and undefeated in 6 straight. Fredonia currently is the #1 seed in the SUNYAC tournament with 2 games to play.
Jon Ports:
Team Results for the Week: York went 2-0 for the week as they defeated #3 Messiah 2-1 on Tuesday followed by a 4-1 victory at Wesley on Friday. The Spartans improve to 14-1 overall and 6-1 in the CAC. Student-Athletes Accomplishments: Ports continued his outstanding play with the first goal of the game, 21 seconds into the second half against Messiah. He then had a hand in all four goals in the win over Wesley. Ports scored the games first goal just 4:08 into the match. He then notched the game-winner in the 41st minute. Port then assisted on the Spartans third and fourth goals to lift the Spartans to their fifth straight win. For the week, Ports had eight points on three goals and a pair of assists. He had a hand in five of the Spartans six goals for the week. Other Pertinent Stats: For the season, Ports leads the Spartans in scoring with 37 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. He has seven game-winning goals for the Spartans.
Cody Stoermer:
Stoermer scored four goals and had two assists in two games this past week. Stoermer also broke the Central College all-time career points record with his first goal of the week.
Keith Manscuk:
Manscuk helped the Red Dragons to a pair of conference victories this past week. In a 4-0 win over Morrisville he had a pair of goals. He then recorded two assists in a 4-0 victory over SUNYIT. Manscuk leads the Red Dragons with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points on the season. He broke a nearly 30 year old school record for carrer points in the win over SUNYIT and now has 118 career points.
Cal Mintz:
In his lone appearance this past week, Mintz backstopped Keene State to a conference victory over UMass Dartmouth on Oct. 13. The Westport, Conn. product made eight saves, including three point-blank Corsairs attempts in the first frame. Mintz is currently riding a 225 minute and seven seconds shutout streak, including holding his past two oppositions scoreless. He has posted four shutouts on the campaign.
Gary Boughton:
Gary Boughton- Boughton had 3 goals and 1 assist in a 6-0 non-conference win, then came back and had a goal against PS Altoona (who was previously unbeaten in AMCC conference play. Gary's 9 point week helped Medaille remain unbeaten in conference play. Boughton a 1st Team All-Region selection by D3KICKS in 2006, has helped Medaille to remain unbeaten in their last 29 conference matches and 28 home matches.
Jonathan Bilbao:
In a 3-0 week for the Gothic Knights, including two NJAC victories, junior center midfielder JONATHAN BILBAO (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict Prep) had the game-winning goal in each NJAC victory as NJCU improved to 13-3-0 and 6-1-0 and claimed sole possession of first place in the conference at the latest point in the season in school history.In a 1-0 victory at Rutgers-Newark on October 10, Bilbao was taken down in the box at 78:18. The junior co-captain calmly drilled the ensuing penalty kick into the lower left side of the net for his sixth goal of the year. On October 13, Bilbao helped the Gothic Knights accomplished perhaps the most significant regular season victory in the 49-year history of the men soccer program, defeating #10 ranked Montclair State University, for the first time since 1986, by a 3-0 margin, to gain sole possession of first place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Just 3:11 into the game, Bilbao was dragged down on the left side of the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Bilbao, buried his seventh goal of the season past and MSU keeper who had only allowed five goals in 15 games. The gola into the right side of the net provided a 1-0 lead. He is now 4-for-4 in penalty kicks in his career, including two in regulation.Bilbao, whose twin brother Edison Bilbao scored two second half goals in the MSU win, leads the NJAC in assists (9) and assists per game (0.60), and ranks fifth in the NJAC in total points (23), seventh in points per game (1.53), 10th in goals (7) and goals per game (0.47).
Plamen Pamukov:
Plamen Pamukov scored all of Dominican University's five goals last week as the Stars posted a 2-0-0 record on the week with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College and a 2-0 win over St. Norbert College. The 6'1 junior's three goals against Wisconsin Lutheran was the first-career hat trick for the 2006 D3Kicks.com 2nd Team All-American selection. Pamukov now has seven goals and four assists on the 2007 campaign.
Nicholas Boretti:
Boretti paced the Eastern Connecticut attack this past week with eight points on four goals as the Warriors posted a 2-1 mark. He registered the game-winning goal against Trinity (Conn.) and Husson College. Boretti scored a season-high four points against the Bantams as Eastern Connecticut handed the sixth-ranked team in New England a 3-1 loss. He also netted a marker against Southern Maine on Oct. 13. On the season, Boretti has five goals and two assists for 14 points.
Sara Roeder:
This week's Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, Sara Roeder has been a rock on the backline for Stevens. The team's leading-scorer from last season, Roeder has bounced between forward and defender positions this year. In games that she has played defense this season, Stevens has allowed just one goal, which came against nationally-ranked Messiah College at the beginning of September. Last week, she helped the Ducks to a 1-0 win over Nazareth College - marking the fifth win in a row for Stevens.
Tessa Hall:
The Greensboro, North Carolina sophomore defender anchored a defense which did not allow a goal in two wins last week for The Pride. In a 1-0 win over Guilford, Hall assisted on the game winning goal while also helping The Pride defense hold the Quakers to eight shots on goal. In an 11-0 victory over USA South foe Mary Baldwin, Hall assisted on three goals while The Pride defense held the Squirrels to just two shots on goal. Hall's four assists this week gives her 13 for the season which is a new school record.
Mallory Davis:
Junior defender Mallory Davis helped lead Lake Forest to a pair of 1-0 victories in conference play over the weekend. The junior defender and the rest of the Forester defense limited Grinnell to eight shots, including four on goal, on Saturday and held Beloit to 10 attempts, including five on goal, on Sunday. The wins moved the team into third place in the conference with a 5-1-0 record. Davis has a goal and an assist this season in addition to helping the Foresters post eight shutouts.
Adrianne Groth:
Junior forward Adrianne Groth scored three goals and added an assist in Saint Vincent's 2-0 week. She scored both of Saint Vincent's goals in the first half in their 2-1 upset over Thomas More on Sunday, snapping TMC's nine-game winning streak. She assisted on Saint Vincent's first goal and then scored its third goal in a 3-0 win over Geneva on Tuesday. She shares the team lead with five goals, four assists, and 14 points on the season
Christyn Scillieri:
Freshman forward Christyn Scillieri was named the NJAC's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three times and adding an assist while scoring the game-winning tally in each contest. Montclair moved to 5-2 in the league and 6-7-1 overall with a pair of NJAC wins. Sciliieri opened the week by scoring he only goal the Red Hawks would need as she scored with 5:40 left in the first half as MSU went on to a 3-0 win over Kean. Against New Jersey City, Scillieri gave MSU had a hand in all three goals, scoring twice in the second half giving Montclair the lead each time as the Red Hawks edged NJCU, 3-2. Her first goal put Montclair up 2-1 1:22 into the second half and her second in the 52nd minute gave Montclair the lead for good. It was Scillieri's seventh goal of the year and she is second on the team in goals (7) and points (17).
Cybil Robinson:
Sophomore forward Cybil Robinson scored both goals in Manhattanville's 2-0 win over Arcadia Saturday, a victory that snapped Arcadia's 11-match unbeaten streak. Robinson assisted on a goal in the Valiants' 2-0 win at King's (Pa.) on Tuesday. She leads the team with four goals, two assists and 10 points, and was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week.
Heather Mortell:
Freshman forward Heather Mortell scored four goals in a 2-0-1 week as the Golden Bears (12-2-2) remained unbeaten in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). She had two goals against both Regis (7-0) and Nichols (5-0 including the game-winner), and was voted the TCCC Rookie-of-the-Week for the fourth time this season.
Ashley Cabral:
West Haven, Connecticut senior forward Ashley Cabral scored five goals in a 2-0 week for The Pride. In a 1-0 win over Guilford, Cabral scored the game's lone goal in the 71st minute. In an 11-0 win over USA South foe Mary Baldwin, Cabral tallied four goals which gives her a new school record 21 for the season. She was named the USA South player of the week.
Kristen Cargen:
Senior keeper Kristen Cargen was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 15 after a week in which she posted two shutouts, set a school single-game record of 17 saves and allowed only one goal -- on a penalty kick -- in 290 minutes. She had shutouts against Albright (Oct. 8 with four saves) and William Paterson (Oct. 13, six saves) sandwiched around the 1-1 tie at Richard Stockton (Oct. 10), when she set the program save mark. She has a streak of 369:53 without allowing a goal from the flow of play (only goal in that span was on the PK by Stockton).
Nicole Gaudette:
Junior Midfielder Nicole Gaudette led Eastern Connecticut to a 2-0 mark this past week with eight points, on three goals and two assists. The Colchester, Conn. product had a hand in four consecutive goals at Johnson and Wales, netting two markers and dishing out two helpers. On Oct. 13, Gaudette added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in a victory over Southern Maine.
Caitlin Suilmann:
Freshman midfielder Caitlin Suilmann (Powder Springs GA) had two goals and six assists in the Scotties' three wins this week. Suilmann's 14 assists on the season has broken a 10 year old school record. At her current rate she could break the school's career record in assists in just one year. Suilmann also leads the Great South Athletic Conference in assists.
