AU Spartan Women NCAA Bound


The Aurora University Spartan women's soccer team has been selected by the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship selection committee as part of the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Field.

The Spartans are one of 60 teams in the 2007 Championship Field. Thirty-eight conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2007 championship. Four teams were selected from Pool B (where the Spartans were sepected), which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 18 berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

Four teams will receive first-round byes. Four two-team first-round matches will be played to determine the teams that advance to the second round to play the four teams that received a first-round bye. Twelve four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, November 9-10 or 10-11, 2007. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites November 16-17 or 17-18, 2007.

All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals November 23-24 at Disney�s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The Spartans will find out their opponent, location and contest time when the championship brackets are announced on Monday, November 5, 2007 at apporximately 8:00 a.m.
