NJCU�S JENNIFER ALBUJA CLIMBS TO SECOND NATIONALLY IN GOALS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN� The NCAA released its fifth weekly Division III women�s soccer national statistical report for the 2007 season on Tuesday, and New Jersey City University freshman striker JENNIFER ALBUJA (Union City, NJ/Hoboken) has climbed into second place nationally in goals per game and eighth in points per game. The report is for games played through October 7.
Albuja, who was No. 1 nationally in goals per game as of September 23, before falling to fifth last week, scored five times in three games from October 1-7, and with an NJCU single-season record 18 goals in 12 games, is tied for second in the nation with 1.500 goals per game.
Albuja, who has now tallied a single-season record 38 points, is eighth nationally in that category, averaging 3.17 points per game. She was 12th on October 2.
NJCU grad student midfielder KATIE FEEHAN (Manasquan, NJ/Wall) has seven assists in 11 games, and ranks tied for 37th in the country at 0.64 per contest, up from 53rd last week.
Freshman goalkeeper KELLY REILLY (Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville Memorial) is 58th nationally in saves per game at 8.17 per outing.
As a team, the Gothic Knights are 72nd in shutout percentage (0.50), having posted a single-season school record six shutouts.
Meanwhile, the NJCU scoring offense is 85th best out of more than 400 teams nationally, averaging 2.75 goals per game. NJCU�s 33 goals this season are third most in single-season history; the school record is 45 goals, achieved in 1994.
