New Blog Added: The Top 6 Reasons Why Messiah Will Win Again

New Blog Added: The Top 6 Reasons Why Messiah Will Win AgainWe are all set for a new and exciting year in division 3 soccer. This website might have a look, but don't expect a new champion, here's why...

6. They are a perennial power, and let's face it, perennial powers do well in d3 soccer. In the last ten years, only six of the more than 350 men's soccer teams have won championships. Three of those six teams were in last year's final 4 (Messiah, Wheaton, Ohio Wesleyan), and five of those six teams (Messiah, Wheaton, Ohio Wesleyan, Trinity, St. Lawrence) made last year's national tournament.

5. The fans. When your school doesn't have a football team, the fans have a smaller selection of athletic events to choose from on Saturdays. Messiah has [arguably] the best fans in d3 soccer, and its easier to win games with the crowd on your side.

4. They have an easy schedule. Don't get me wrong, they have some tough games this year, namely: York, Wheaton and Elizabethtown. But let's face it, the Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference is not even close to as tough as the NESCAC or UAA. Messiah will enter the playoffs with lots of confidence and very few blemishes on their record. Yes, I know, they lost to Elizabethtown before the start of the national tourney last year, but let's face it, that game meant nothing.

3. Messiah returns 20 players from a national championship team six of which were starters.

2. Kai Kasigurian. In his 3 years of d3 soccer, Kasigurian has won 3 championships and one D3Kicks.com player of the year award (D3Kicks.com has been around for 1 year).

1. Dave Brandt. There is a reason that Brandt doesn't coach DI, or in the MLS, and I don't think it's the money. Brandt is all about winning, and he instills the same attitude in his players.
