Armstrong Resigns Shenandoah Soccer Post

Armstrong, who led the Hornets to the USA South Conference Tournament for the past three seasons, is resigning her position to become a volunteer assistant coach at Florida State University.
In four seasons at the helm of the SU program, Armstrong led the women to 28 wins and had a career best 10-8-1 campaign in 2005. The 28 wins places her second on the all-time womens soccer wins list at Shenandoah and the 10-win season in 05 is the second best in school history.
Armstrong saw 18 of her players earn All-USA South Conference honors during her tenure, including a school-record eight in 2005. One of Armstrongs four-year student-athletes, Lauren Carpinello, was a four-time All-USA South Conference selection and also earned Academic All-District honors in all three years she was eligible.
"This is a very difficult decision for me, but I have had a goal of becoming a Division I coach for some time now and this is a great opportunity," Armstrong said. "I have enjoyed my time at Shenandoah and I feel that I am leaving the program on solid footing."
"I want to thank Miranda for everything she has done for the womens soccer program," Hill said. "She made tremendous strides with the team and I will be looking for our next coach to take the program to new heights.
"We are going to do a national search for a coach with a goal of having someone in place by August 1."
The womens soccer team opens its 2007 season on September 1 with a home game against Alvernia College.
