Edwards Takes Position at North Park

LONGVIEW, TEXAS LeTourneau University head womens soccer coach Troy Edwards informed Director of Athletics Dr. Duane Trogdon on Tuesday that he would be accepting the head womens soccer coaching position at North Park University in Chicago, IL.
Edwards inherited a LeTourneau LadyJacket program in 2004 that had never had a winning season and was coming off a 5-9-2 record in 2003. In his three years at the helm, he turned the program around culminating in two straight American Southwest Conference Playoff appearances and a winning season in 2006. In his three years his student-athletes have earned nine all-conference honors, 14 ASC Academic Honor Rolls, two ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Region honors, one NSCAA all-region honor and one D3Kicks.com all-region honor. His career record at LeTourneau is 22-33-3 in three seasons.
I am very sorry to see Troy leave us, said Trogdon. He has been an integral part of our athletic department for the past three years and has done a great job with the womens soccer program.
Edwards inherits a North Park program that went 5-11-2 last year and competes in the ultra-competitive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). While my wife and I are sad to leave LeTourneau, we are thankful that God has provided an opportunity for me to coach near our family in Chicago. We are leaving wonderful friends and a great group of young women. LeTourneau University has been good to us, but we could not pass up the opportunity to raise our daughter near family, said Edwards.
The search for a new head coach at LeTourneau will begin immediately.
