Coulter Lewis:
Senior defender Coulter Lewis was named PAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Bison go 2-1 last week. Because of injuries in the back, Lewis drew the assignments of marking the opposition's top scoring threats. He proved to be up to the challenge, as his play was key in Bethany recording a 3-0 victory over Lake Erie Sunday for the team's first shutout of the season.
Zeyad Schwen:
Zeyad Schwen anchored the Case defense in two shutouts this week. The Spartans defeated John Carroll 3-0 allowing only 5 shots in the game and defeated Juniata 2-0 allowing just 4 shots in the game.
Ryne Nichols:
Defender Ryne Nichols tallied a goal on a penalty kick in a win over Lasell, and was key in GC's back line, as the Pride improved to 5-0 with 3 wins on the week. He aided a defense that allowed just one goal and 11 shots in 3 games. He was named to the Doug Hamilton All Tournament team for the champion Pride.
Sinisa Bajic:
Sinisa Bajic, the 2006 Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year, opened the 2007 season netting five goals and passing out an assist to help the Huskies to a 3-1 start. Bajic was involved in all three goals in Southern Maine’s season-opening victory over St. Joseph’s (Maine), scoring two markers and handing out a helper. With his 11 points on the campaign, Bajic has moved into fourth place on the program’s all-time scoring list.
Brian Bolibrzuch:
Ohio Northern forward Brian Bolibrzuch scored a goal in each of ONU's three games this past week to go along with one assist. These are the first three goals of Bolibrzuch's career.
Dann DeLorenzo:
Freshman forward Dann DeLorenzo earned Offensive MVP honors at the Rutgers-Camden Cialella Classic with a pair of game winning goals. He scored the lone goal in Eastern's 1-0 win over Villa Julie Friday, and then broke a late 2-2 tie with a stunning 20 yard volley in the 75th minute of the match. The Eagles are 2-1 on the year.
Nick Callahan:
Senior forward Nick Callahan (Stillwater/Stillwater) netted a career-high five goals as the Utica College men’s soccer team defeated visiting Postdam St. 8-0 in non-conference action Wednesday. He also assisted on the first goal of the game giving him a school record 11 points in one game. Callahan netted five consecutive goals over the course of 70:22. In three previous seasons with the Pioneers he had netted six goals total. He leads the team with 11 points this season and he has tallied a team-high 13 shots.
Ryan Sutcliffe:
Senior keeper Ryan Sutcliffe did not allow a goal in 220 minutes of action as Swarthmore battled to a pair of ties this past week at Arcadia and versus 11th-ranked Montclair State. The senior goalkeeper came up with a big saves in each of the overtime sessions, preserving his personal scoreless streak at 297:57. He know has three shutouts in four starts in 2007.
Edison Bilbao:
New Jersey City University junior midfielder Edison Bilbao (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) has been the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career after leading the Gothic Knights to a 2-1 week, including a near upset of #6 ranked North Carolina Wesleyan College in the championship game of the 4th annual NJCU Liberty Cup. His award, for week two of the 2007 season, marks the ninth time since the offensive and defensive awards were split in 2001, that the Gothic Knights (3-2-0) have earned the honor.Bilbao, a First-Team All-NJAC and First-Team NSCAA All-Metro Region selection last year, was key for the Gothic Knights last week, tallying eight points, with three goals and two assists, and two game-winning goals. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the NJCU Liberty Cup for the third consecutive year to open his collegiate career.
Chad Newquist:
Junior Midfielder Chad Newqueist contributed in all three of the Spartan wins this week. He scored one goal against Concordia-Chicago and then had the game winning assist against Monmouth College with the clock winding down. In the final game of the week, against undeafed IC, he put in 1 goal and 1 assist to lift the Spartan to a 4-0 victory.
Anthony Amaya:
Junior midfielder Anthony Amaya recorded his first points of the season in a 4-3 loss at Louisiana College on Friday, connecting on a penalty kick in the 49th minute for his first goal before an assist to teammate Heath Smith on the ensuing goal in the 72nd minute.
Brittany McKee:
In two shutout wins over at Pitt-Bradford (4-0) and vs. La Roche (6-0), senior defender Brittany McKee led Westminster's back line that limited opponents to just six shot attempts and no corner kicks. Westminster is now 3-0-1 with three straight shutout wins.
Maggie Costich:
Junior defender Maggie Costich led the way defensively as Chicago went 3-0 including wins over two nationally-ranked teams. Led by Costich, the Maroons defeated 16th-ranked DePauw 1-0 in overtime and 23rd-ranked Calvin 4-0 before edging St.Olaf 2-1.
Lizzie Wright:
Junior defender Lizzie Wright's (Needham, MA) stellar defensive effort on the weekend helped the Lynx to two shut-out victories over American Southwest Conference opponents including a 2-0 blanking of the #4 ranked Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons and an 8-0 victory over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers. On Friday night against Hardin-Simmons, Wright drew the unenviable task of marking the Cowgirl's All-American forward Amy Kuykendall and kept her from becoming a factor in the game. In addition to helping hold ETBU to just 3 shots on Saturday night, she also scored a goal against the Tigers on a shot from 25 yards out. The shut outs against HSU and ETBU were the Lynx' second and third shut outs of the 2007 season.
Suzie Peters:
Suzie Peters notched 3 goals in two games this weekend to lead the Cardinals to the 2007 DC Classic championship at Catholic University. Peters scored once in the first game against Ferrum, then found the back of the net twice in the final game against Roanoke. Peters was also named to the All-Tournament team.
Tori Rittman:
Senior forward Tori Rittman scored the gamewinning goal in a 3-2 (2 OT) game against Bethel (Minn.) Saturday. The goal also made her the leading goal scorer in Central College women's soccer history at 45. Additionallly, Rittman tallied five goals in three games this past week.
Amy Dziomba:
Amy Dziomba (Sr./North Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) scored a school-record five goals in the Lady Spartan's 6-0 win over Keystone September 8th. Dziomba also broke her own record for fastest three goals scored in a game, establishing her fourth career hat trick in the game's first 26:30. Dziomba opened the week with two goals September 5th versus Hilbert in the Lady Spartan's 3-2 loss. Dziomba has tallied seven goals this week on 13 shots (.538).
Sarah Killingbeck:
Junior forward Sarah Killingbeck scored five goals for 10 points as UMass Dartmouth posted a 2-1-1 overall record in five matches this week. On Sept. 8, she registered a hat trick to lead the Corsairs to a come-from-behind overtime victory against Fitchburg State, 3-2. With UMass Dartmouth facing a two goal deficit, Killingbeck scored three unanswered markers, including the game-winner two minutes into the extra session. She also logged goals against Nichols and Emerson.
Sherri Rosenberg:
Sophomore netminder Sherri Rosenberg posted back-to-back shutouts in the 2007 Stevens Engineering Cup as the Ducks captured the title for the fourth year in a row. Rosenberg allowed no goals in the 200 minutes and 2 games of the tournament. She has a 0.27 goals against average this season.
Ashley Hackman:
Eastern midfielder Ashley Hackman picked up a goal and two assists in the Eagles only contest of the week. The junior from Perkasie, PA moved into the top spot on the Eastern All-Time assist list.
Tracy Fitzpatrick:
Junior midfielder Tracy Fitzpatrick scored 2 goals this weekend (3 overall) and lead Moravian to a 3-1 start on the season. Against Manhattanville, she notched the gamewinner in the 89th minute and lead the team with 5 shots on goal.
Kirby Posey:
Posey led the YellowJackets to their first win of the season, a 5-0 win at University of Dallas. The Jackets had never defeated UD in the program's history. Posey scored the first two goals of the game, including the game-winner.
