Maroons Improve to 3-0

AURORA, Ill. -- Liza Wagner scored the only goal of the match late in the first half as the 24th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated host Aurora University 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

Wagner scored her first career goal at the 43:48 mark to cap a first half in which Chicago (3-0) outshot the Spartans (2-2) by a 10-1 margin. Aurora netminder Jenny Jarvis made six of her eight saves in the first period to keep her club in the game.

The Maroons outshot Aurora 6-2 in the second stanza to notch a 16-3 edge for the match.

Chicago goalkeeper Emma Gormley collected a pair of saves to register her second straight shutout. Gormley has not allowed a goal in her last 195:41 of action.
