Messiah Men End Greensboro Season


Grantham, Pa. -- Matt Dorsey scored two goals as Messiah College defeated Greensboro College, 4-0, in an NCAA Division III second round game on Saturday.

It took the Falcons just 1:06 minutes to score the first goal. Dan Visser knocked in a long throw-in from Ben Jordan for the match's first score.

Greensboro controlled the play of the game, but Messiah converted its chance in the first half.

Dorsey scored in the 22nd minute off an assist from Nick Thompson. In the 40th minute Mkie Rinker tallied from Eric Frey.

The score was 3-0 at the break. The Falcons scored its 3 goals on 4 shots.

"We were very happy with our execution in the first half," said Pride Head Coach Bill Brady. "We did everything but finish, and Messiah did that. In the second half, our spirits were down and they dictated the play."

Messiah had 18 shots to 9 for the visitors. Kurt Gardiner (pictured) stopped 4 Messiah shots.

Dorsey scored the match's last goal in the 49th minute off a throw-in from Jordan on a play that was nearly identical to the first goal.
