Warhawks Defeat Cardinal Stritch 1-0
The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team opened up their season with a 1-0 victory over Cardinal Stritch University at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee on Tuesday. The Warhawks are 1-0-0 and Cardinal Stritch is 0-1-0.
The match was scoreless until the 59th minute when Dan Montanye found the back of the net for the lone goal of the game. The goal was unassisted.
The Warhawks outshot the Wolves 8-7 but UW-W goalkeeper Andrew Krueger only had to make one save. Trevor Swentik and Montanye each got off two shots on goal and Matt Gehn put one shot on the net.
UW-W plays again on Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm in Whitewater against Loras. The Warhawks are now a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference but do not open up conference play until September 12 when they host UW-Superior at 3 pm.
