6/6/06 - Former Messiah star takes part in Clash
Grantham, PA--After winning his third National Championship and being named the Division III National player of the year, Dave McClellan has decided not to hang up his boots just yet. He has signed with the local USL Second Division Harrisburg City Islanders, who this past Tuesday participated in a friendly with MLS D.C. United.
The game was dubbed "The Clash of the Capitals II" and was played in front of a Harrisburg record crowd of 5,133 at Cumberland Valley High School. It was a homecoming for several CV Alumni who are on the D.C. United and City Islanders squads-- United's Josh Gros and Harrisburg's Derek Potteiger and Justin Sadler. The D.C. United squad was made up of starters and reserves including young star Freddy Adu.
The City Islanders came up one goal short as the visiting MLS squad won 2-1.
